Q&A: Stretch Armstrong

Q&A: Stretch Armstrong

August 8th, 2008

Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records and Smirnoff are going to be collaborating for a series of parties with a stream of local and international DJs. First up: Stretch Armstrong featuring K Natz on Aug 16 at 808.

Bangkok’s party goers are expecting the series of events to start with a big bang. How are you going to ensure that?

In my DJing, I do a combination of magic and pyrotechnics. That’s all I can reveal.

How long will your set be?

My itunes says I can play for 32.4 days until I start to repeat songs. So as long as the party
people want me, I am all theirs.

How would you describe yourself in five sentences?

I am a tall man. Oops, I thought you said five words.

Will you be DJing in any other parties in the series besides the opening one?

I guess that depends if I am loved or hated.

What’s next for you?

I can’t say for certain. Something, I hope.

Have you played in Thailand before?

I have never played in Thailand and I’m very excited about it.

What has been your best gig so far and why?

Oh, that’s really impossible to say. Sometimes the smallest gigs with the best people are the most memorable, while big, impersonal gigs can be easy to forget. I’ve been doing this since it was hard to even find a store to buy DJ turntables! So I’ve had too many memories to rank them.

What made you decide to join Dim Mak in this series of parties?

I can’t remember if I commanded them to include me or if they asked me.

What do Bangkok partygoers have to prepare before hitting up your gig?

A lot of hard work, heavy lifting, etc. But it will be fun!
