Started by Marijke Schreurs, a Bangkok-based Dutch designer, Planet Latex was established to bring this fun European party trend to Bangkok’s nightlife (and in some cases, bedroom) scene. “Bangkok is a party city, but when you want to find a fun outfit to wear, there are no options,” says Marijke. The store started out as an online venture but has since moved to a home office thanks to the high demand for these custom-made rubber outfits that appeal to a diverse crowd that includes cosplay enthusiasts, event organizers and nightclubs.

Despite what you may think the designs aren’t that extreme. Indeed, the range of leggings, pants, jackets, and miniskirts can all be seen on the shelves of Siam Square hot spots. The only difference is that, here, they are all made of imported latex, spandex, leatherette (imitation leather) or PVC and come in fantasy-inspired hues such as silver, red, gold and, of course, black.

If you’re not daring enough to go for the full rubber regalia then spruce up your daily outfit with a pair of leggings (B2,000), or get a pair of knee-high boots (B4,800) to go with your jeans. But, if you are feeling skinny and brave then the mini skirt (B1,350) or biker girl pencil skirt (B5,670) are top picks.
