Party Checklist

Party Checklist

Print out this checklist and follow it religiously if you don't want a pooped party.

A month in advance:

  •  
Look at your budget
  •  
Draw up the guest list
  •  
Set your party date and time
  •  
Find a location if it’s not your home

3 weeks in advance:

  •  
Think of the menu, restaurant take-out or get a caterer
  •  
Create and send out the invitations

2 weeks in advance:

  •  
Shop for all your party supplies or decorations
  •  
Finalize the menu, drink list and décor
  •  
Compile the tunes you want played at the event. Remember, don’t shuffle.
  •  
Recheck what you are still missing from the kitchen: cutlery, glasses, or kitchen utilities

A week in advance:

  •  
Confirm the place, catering and all the other outsourcing that you need to help you get through the event easily
  •  
Stock the non-perishable food and drinks needed for the party
  •  
Call non-RSVP guests

 A day in advance:

  •  
Buy all perishable food except meat and seafood
  •  
Check that your camera is ready to be used
  •  
Refrigerate drinks

On the day of: Morning

  •  
Prepare some foods like sauces, chop vegetables and defrost rozen food
  •  
Confirm with restaurant/location and caterer again
  •  
Buy fresh meat and seafood
  •  
Clean up your house, put out nice and clean towels and make sure that there is enough toilet paper to get through the party

 

On the day of: From the afternoon to party time:

  •  
Set up seats and tables 1pm
  •  
Start cooking 2pm
  •  
Pick up cake 3pm
  •  
Get dressed but with an apron 4pm
  •  
Reheat the food 5pm
  •  
Prepare cold food 5:30pm
  •  
Light the candles, dim the lights, put music on and don’t forget to take off your apron 5:45pm
  •  
Smile and enjoy the party 6pm
