In Nakhon Sri Thammarat, a host of spirits possess three women during a relative’s funeral. Saijai Niyomjit, 35, dies of lung cancer and her body is taken to Wat Matchimphoom. During the prayers, Saijai’s big sister Saijit, her younger sister Saichon and her niece Khaningnij are possessed by different spirits: Saichon by her dead sister who threatens to harm those who cremate her body before she sees her two sons, Saijit by a Chinese man and Khaningnij by male and female guardian angels, both vowing to protect the villagers from harm. In the end, the monks have to seek the help of a hermit who is able to shoo the spirits away. The women collapse and are taken to a nearby hospital.

In Chiang Mai, a man discovers a strange looking fi sh and brings it home. Withya Wongchomphoo, 52, puts out a bamboo fi sh trap in the Ping River and catches a creature which has the head of a snake-head fi sh, the body of a catfi sh and is as long as an eel. He brings it home where some villagers say the fi sh is in fact a rare species called the “tuu-nah” or the “taa-ngae,” while others claim it could be a totally new breed of fi sh never seen before.

In Bangkok, a human forearm is found on the railway tracks. Hua Lamphong Station authorities discover a right forearm lying on the tracks inside the station close to a platform. They suspect that it belongs to a woman because of the long, thin fi ngers. Further inspection reveals that the arm has been amputated from the body for nearly a week. Police will continue their investigations in order to rule out the possibility of murder.

16 MON

In Bangkok, a “possessed” middle-aged woman jumps off a BTS station and dies. Donla Suila, 40, tells her husband, Sathit Usinngan, 47, that she wants to commit suicide because she believes an unknown spirit possesses her. Donla, who is a resident of Udon Thani and sells food in Sathorn Soi 15 for a living, goes to the Rajdamri skytrain station and jumps off—injuring herself severely. Security cameras at the station capture her suicide attempt. She is rushed to the hospital but later dies of her injuries.
