7 WED

In Bangkok, in what some observers have identified as an alarming trend, a 33-year-old man accidentally shoots himself and suffers serious injuries to his penis. While cleaning his sawed-off shotgun in front of his residence in Prawet, Jakrit apparently forgets that his weapon is loaded. By mistake he shoots himself in the belly, and at least one projectile exits through his genitals. Jakrit is rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors say his condition is not serious.

9 FRI

In Nakhon Ratchasima, a man organizes a bogus kidnapping to convince his girlfriend to marry him. Nanathip, 23, is riding on her motorcycle with a friend, Kathaya, 21, when three men force them off the bike and take them to an unfamiliar location. Kathaya is released to get B100,000 in ransom from Rachan, 24, Nanathip’s boyfriend. They return with B70,000, which the kidnappers accept and she is freed. Later, police discover that Rachan and Kathaya were both involved in the kidnapping. Nanathip had turned down Rachan’s marriage proposal and was desperate for a way to win her over, they say.

10 SAT

In Bangkok, police arrest a security guard after he kills and injures several of his co-workers. Wittaya Jaikan, 30, says that it bothered him to see his colleagues sleep or drink alcohol on the job. One night he becomes so incensed that it drives him to attack several who are asleep. Using a metal bar and a wood plank, Wittaya bludgeons 15 of them. Six die from their injuries. Though he removes valuables from the victims, Wittaya denies being a common thief. He claims he acted to safeguard the reputation of security guards.

12 Mon

In Phuket, a drunk Australian man gets the words “Gay Premiers 2007” tattooed on his arm instead of “Day Premiers 2007.” After 15 cans of beer the tourist is oblivious to what the tattoo artist is doing. The mistake is caught by the man's son-in-law, but by then it is too late. Not only that, but the artist had tattoed the instructions the Australian man had written on a piece of paper: "Left Arm."
