What's in theater this week!

Teeth. (USA). Mitchell Lichtenstein’s audacious black comedy stars rosy-cheeked newcomer Jess Weixler as a goody two shoes whose teethed vagina attacks every unscrupulous man looking to take advantage of her. Nov 27.

007 Quantum of Solace. (USA). Daniel Craig returns as the seductive secret agent with a license to kill in the 22nd film in the James Bond franchise. Picking up almost immediately where Casino Royale left off, Bond seeks revenge for the death of his lover, Vesper Lynd, while setting out to unravel the scheme of evil organization Quantum.

20th Century Boys. (Japan). In this live-action adaptation of Naoki Urasawa’s sci-fi manga, a convenience store clerk discovers that the mysterious events that he and his friends predicted as children are now becoming a chain of real life incidents and deaths.

PICK> Burn After Reading. (USA). See review.

Coming Soon. (Thailand). Shen, a projectionist, arranges a private “sneak preview” of an upcoming ghost film for his friend. The next day, he discovers he’s now living the movie.

Elegy. (USA). In this provocative adaptation of Philip Roth’s novel, The Dying Animal, Ben Kingsley delivers a refined performance as a professor whose philandering lifestyle is turned upside down when he falls for sexy student (Penelope Cruz). At Apex.

PICK> The Fall. (India/UK). To trick a little girl into getting him morphine, a depressed, bedridden stuntman tells her a gripping fable. Tarsem Singh (The Cell) serves up this delirious fantasy, filled with lush colors, elaborate costumes and exotic landscapes. At House and Lido.

Into the Faraway Sky. (Japan). This sentimental drama centers on the friendship of three teenagers set against the backdrop of a protest over the construction of a new airport. At House and Lido.

Queens of Langkasuka. (Thailand). In this ensemble-cast epic, Nonzee Nimitbutr blends pirates, magic, martial arts and elaborate costumes to portray the power struggles in the ancient kingdom of Langkasuka. The script is by S.E.A. Write winner Win Lyovarin.

Scar 3D. (USA). This gruesome 3D throat-slashing thriller is definitely not for the squeamish. Returning to her hometown, Joan is confronted with her horrifying past as she runs into a serial killer who kidnapped her when she was a child.

Traitor. (USA). Don Cheadle’s (Hotel Rwanda) admirable performance is the best thing about this head-scratching tangle of confused plotlines. He plays an estranged ex-military operative who becomes involved with a web of terrorist organizations.

PICK> Tropic Thunder. (USA). Ben Stiller writes, directs and leads an ensemble cast in this hilarious action comedy about a group of egocentric A-listers who set out to shoot a big-budget Vietnam War film but end up in a real war zone. Also starring scene-stealer Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black.
