Cancer Treatment Centers
November 23rd, 2007Dear Mr.KIA: I’ve just been handed the most horrible news—I may be suffering from a cancer. I’m going to have to do a whole bunch of tests and if my doctor’s fears are confirmed, go into treatment. Of course, I’m terrified but I know it’s not a time to weep; I need to be strong and seek help. I know nothing about cancer and of where it is treated. I want the best care available, naturally. I trust my doctor, but just to be on the safe side, what do you think are the best places to get diagnosed and treated?—The Show Must Go On, Right?
Dear TSMGO: You sound extremely positive and everyone agrees that means you’ve already won half the battle. In our day and age, cancer is not a death sentence anymore but speed is of the essence. Run to any of the addresses below with no further delay! Stay positive, and share with others what you are going through so that they can support you as well. Asking around, even to complete strangers like Mr. KIA, is also a great way to pick up information. You might find people who have recovered from cancer that you didn’t suspect had ever had it. They can help you, too. Remember, information is power—the power to get the best treatments in this case.
Wattanosoth Hospital uses the latest technology in cancer treatment. It is the first private cancer center in Thailand and also the first place to diagnose with PET CT scan machines that are able to search for cancer cells even in their earliest stages. As for treatments, they offer many choices: radio frequency, Brach therapy, Tran arterial chemoembolization and more.
National Cancer Institute of Thailand has Brach therapy and delivers attentive patient follow-ups to monitor unwanted side effects. Appointments can be made 1:30-3pm.
Balavi Natural Medicine Center was founded by two grads from Ramathibodi who continued further studies in acupuncture. Balavi is a good place to restore you mental and physical health but do remember natural therapies can only complement the treatments offered by hospitals—they don’t replace them. Balavi offers many activities: hydro aerobics, Qi-gong and Wusu classes, and nutrition counselor services. First-time consulting fee is B200-600.
