Bars You Pick Your Own Tunes

Astro Bar

200 Sukhumvit Soi 16, Asok, 02-663-2115. Open daily 6pm-1am.
At first glance, Astro looks like some vintage shop in New York, with its antique toys, Vespa scooters, classical movie posters, funky furniture and a jukebox playing the greatest hits from the 50-70’s. Kick back and relax on a comfy retro sofa with a beer in hand as the voice of The King fills the room.

The Barbican

9/4-5 Soi Thaniya, Silom Rd., 02-234-3590. Open daily 11.30am-1am. www.greatbritishpub.com.
The Barbican, a clean-cut bar and restaurant in a notorious part of the city serves you both fusion food (check out their tapas) and music on stage as well as from their jukebox. Their drinks list is pretty extensive and slightly more expensive than the other British joints around town.

Woodstock

44 Soi Thonglor 13, 02-715-0202/3. Open daily 11am-1.30am. www.woodstockbkk.com.
This pioneer has been providing pub-goers in Bangkok a taste of the States for over 20 years: Brunswick pool table, a choice of burgers, a daily happy hour and a touch screen jukebox playing almost anything out there. You’ll find a number of sports fans at Woodstock, with its projector screens constantly playing all major and special sporting events.
