BARS WHERE YOU CAN PARTY LIKE A JAPANESE

There are farang bars, there are Thai hi-so bars, but where do up-and-coming Japanese crowds go when the sun goes down?

Breaks Bar

The dark tiny bar offers no pop music, only electro and progressive. Sometime the Japanese owner even gets down and displays his percussion skills. Many Japanese come here but there’s a good mix of partygoers that you might expect to find at Club Culture. If you want to try to bump and grind with some Japanese hotties of both genders, come here.

Outer Room

Outer Room has more than just sake and shoju—there’s a list of more than 100 cocktails, both classical and fusion, with some original concoctions. The bright bar serves fusion and acid jazz early on and steps things up later, especially on the weekend. Most customers are Japanese and may not speak Thai or English so bring your phrasebook if you want to take someone home.

Shunbo

Prefer an older crowd? Visit this restaurant/bar as this is the place for Japanese expats in the know. Many of them might head here for its yummy and lower priced dining, but the dark, stark dining area is also fitting for downing some sake. A nice place to relax, or if you’re motivated, network/hook up/exchange name cards with people from the land of the rising sun.

Tsu Nami

Let’s drink like stylish Japanese. Tsu and Nami are two eateries that offer mainly traditional dining but there is a sake bar hidden in the venue too. Many rare imported sakes from Japan are on the list, so study up on the best brands beforehand or feel free to ask them what is best suited for your taste.
