Prop Bar (Prachachuen)
1003/6 Prachachuen Rd., Bang Sue, 02-910-1128. Open daily 5:30pm-1am.
Features a strong 70s influence, with a better atmosphere than its sister bar in RCA. Frankly, the furniture is nicer, too. No live music, though, and no room to move, even on Mon nights. And no youngsters, which is a good thing, because that means less puke stains on the sofas.
shades of retro
Next to Playground!, 08-1824-8011. Open Tue-Sun 2pm-midnight.
An upscale crowd comes here to drink with the super-friendly owner. Retro stuff for sale here as well. The usual soundtrack consists of oldies jazz and rock, which makes for good background music to relax and enjoy some friendly conversation.
Tuba
34 Rm., 11-12 A, Ekkamai Soi 21, 02-711-5500. Open daily 11-1am.
The two-story pub, restaurant and art gallery has a distinctly retro posh vibe and is a cool place to go if you’re looking to play pool, listen to some oldie tunes and maybe buy a couch. (If you want even better deals, rumor has it that they buy their furniture from another second shop in town)
Y50
24 Ekkamai Soi 21, 02-715-0703. Open daily 6pm-late.
There are great people-watching possibilities at this retro furniture shop-cum-bar. Most of the crowd is from the movie industry, so if you want to own a chair that a movie star once farted on, come check out Y50.
