Bars with spicy food
Bars with spicy food
February 8th, 2008It looks like a house and attracts mostly young professionals and music lovers because of the diverse music played by its bands. But if you want a really good reason to drink buckets and buckets of booze, order their super saap larb nuea (B80) and soon you’ll understand the true meaning of “sweating like a pig.”
The shophouse bar and restaurant is graced with a cozy and friendly atmosphere. The ground floor, with its retro décor, is always busy but you can climb up to the Chinese contemporary upper floor for a different vibe. Wherever you go, you should try the pla meuk nueng ma now (steam squid with spicy sauce, B100)—unless you have a weak stomach, that is.
Sure, JFC (Joe’s Fried Chicken) is legendary, but his somtam (B100) can actually beat the one served at your neighborhood somtam stall, you know, the one next to the gas station. Portions are huge but loaded on spice nonetheless. Heat ranking: better than sex.
While you are chilling in the outdoor area and indulging in the relatively cleaner and cooler air of Bangkok’s outskirts, get your thrills with tom saap kraduuk on sai en (hot and spicy spareribs, B200). This herbal soup will surely fire up your mouth and throat, so bring enough cash to order several bottles of whisky to put the fire out.
