Bangkok Year End Sales
Bangkok Year End Sales
December 12th, 2007
Dear Mr. KIA: What I like about the holidays and the year-end are the numerous sales and price slash-offs happening ‘round town. I’m not talking about the usual run-of-the mill conservative discounts they give in almost all the malls in the city. I’m talking about the real deal, like factory outlets and signature brand sales happening in hotels. Would you know when and where we can find those this month? Would really appreciate your help since I also have some friends abroad planning to visit here just to shop for the holidays. Cheers—Bargain Whore
Dear BW: When it comes to bargains, Mr. KIA knows best. You might imagine me as an old wise man with a pipe sitting in a wooden rocking chair, but heck, I do know a thing or two about shopping. I actually had a letter a few issues back about factory outlets; you should go have a read at our new website at http://218.213.75.197/feature/dear-mr-kia-i-wanna-shop-bargains.
If you want a real sale, not one hawking fresh-from-the-factory goods, consider yourself lucky. These sale promotions are finishing soon (in a couple days!) so you’d better hurry!
Thailand Best Buys (At Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, 02-203-4222/-6. www.thaibestbuys.com. Through Dec 16) is the ultimate bargain fest. It offers discounted items from home decoration to clothing. The clothes on sale here are usually by local designers so you get to see things you don’t normally see in malls.
CMG VIP Shopper (G/F, Beacon Zone, Central World Plaza, Ratchadamri Rd., 02-635-1111. Through Dec 16) is shedding up to 80% off the original prices. Thing is, it might be a bit too late to swing the good deals, but dig deep through the piles of stuff on offer and you might get lucky.
As for your foreign friends, take them to the Jim Thompson sale at BITEC (88 Bangna-Trad Rd., 02-749-3939. www.bitec.net. Through Dec 17) for some Thai silk creations.
