Bangkok Welcomes Plump DJs
October 24th, 2007
Lee Rous is one of the two DJs in the nu skool breakbeat/electro dance group Plump DJs, along with Andy Gardner. They first caught the attention of fans in 1999 with their first album A Plump Night Out, which made its way to the top of the breakbeat chart in DJ Magazine. After that, they released more and tracks toured in and out of UK on the dance music global circuit. The two turntablists will be spinning here as part of Chivas’ Music Terminal campaign.
Do you think you have set a new standards for artists in this field?
We have added style and flavor, but not necessarily a new standard.
Are you happy that you are one of the few breakbeat acts to have broken into mainstream radio?
Yes, we worked hard to get our music out to the whole world and we count ourselves lucky that we have radio support.
Tell us about the experiences you get from touring and traveling?
We draw great inspiration during our travels abroad. The people we meet, the music we hear and the experiences we have help us make the music we love.
Any plans for the upcoming future?
“System Addict” is just being released from our forthcoming album which will be due in April next year.
What would you recommend to those interested in DJing?
Get advice before you spend money on musical equipment or change careers. Always think a couple of years ahead, and have a back up plan. Be careful of drugs, they can bite you in the ass.
