Dine by the River
Tucked in the newly opened Navalai River Resort, Aquatini (45/1 Phra Athit Rd., www.navalai.com. Open daily 10am-11pm) serves up a vast selection of Thai and international recipes at pocket-friendly prices. The restaurant has an air-con dining area, as well as ample seating on the riverside patio, where you can enjoy the fresh breeze while sipping your favorite cocktail (B160). For food, try the ravioli bacon in cream sauce (B180) or penne seafood in spicy tomato sauce (B180). One-dish menus are also available at B60-75.
Moshi Moshi This is Fuku Fuku
Fuku Fuku (M Place, 251/2 Sukhumvit 55 Thonglor Soi 13, 02-712-7127. Open daily 11am-2pm 5-11pm) may look small, but inside they have a good-sized sushi bar and two underground levels for dining. You can order your sushi, like the California roll (B220) a la carte, but if you’re hungry, opt for their sets. For Japanese-style spaghetti, try the popular mentaiko option (B180), which is spaghetti with fish roe and cream.
Get Your Yaki On
Just opened earlier this month, Hachi (1160/2 Soi Suanplu Narathiwat Rd., 02-287-4904. Open daily 11am-2pm, 6-10pm), is all about the grill. With five open teppan stations, get your grill on with the kobe beef set (B2,400) or go raw with their sushi bar’s super deluxe sashimi platter (B1,800).
Not So Hard
Japanese owned and operated, Hard Times, (19/3-5 Sukhumvit Soi 31, 02-259-9138. Open daily 11am-midnight) is an American-influenced pub serving Japanese-influenced food. Their cheese sticks (B120) of cheddar wrapped in wonton is light, crispy goodness, perfect with a beer. Their salmon steak set (B138), served with an egg sunny-side-up, is a hearty choice. They also have a selection of shochu cocktails (B130-159).
