Grapes Without the Grape
Grapes and grapes were everywhere, but there was not a drop of wine.
That's what happened at the cooking demonstration and press lunch at D'sens for its Healthy California Grapes promotion, which will take place on Jan 14-31, 08.

The event started as early as 10am! There were writers from 5 magaines, PRs and the Singapore-based importers from the California Table Grape Commission. (even grapes has its own commission, while at BK, we only has "table," but not commission) Greg said he was gonna go with me, but stood me up at last minute.
Chef Philippe Keller kicked things off demonstrating how to make the pan-fried scallops with California grapes and quince chutney. Then we all gathered at one table, on which were plates of grapes for us to sample while waiting for the food. The four-course lunch gradually arrived on the table, starting with the yummy pan-fried duck liver with California grapes and the pan-fried scallops that was still yummy. But when the third dish arrived, not just me, but we were done with grapes. The quail filled with California grapes and Iberico ham served on steam cabbage and guess what, more Calirfornia grapes. The dish looked pretty but its taste was strong. It should be fine if there were wine to accommapy the quail. But the Dusit PR and the grape PR didn't offer.
"Oh, the cabbage was so salty. But would be great to go with wine," I even implied. But still we still didn't get the grape. They were all too busy promoting the grapes. "Did you try the grapes. They are so sweet. Grapes are also healthy, you know. It works great as snacks and ingredients for the food."
Well, duh. Grapes have lots of sugar, and too much sugar isn't good for you!
Dessert was a sweet combo of tartin pie topped with raisins, grape-flavor sherbet and grape panna cotta... eeeewwwww
Treatdown. This week you will mainly die from grapes!
