Crimes against music?

Reading the news today I see that R&B singer R Kelly is currently on trial for 'allegedly' having sex with an under-age girl. Whilst I don’t want to get into the details of the case, I was never that hot on my libel laws, it did remind me of a truly awful album created by Kelly back in 2005. Titled ‘Trapped in the Closet’ it was one of the strangest concept albums ever.

Designed as a Hip Hop soap opera (Hip Hopera?)  it featured 22 three minute tracks that tell a very very twisted story, revolving around infidelity and a lot of different people hiding in cupboards.

Whilst you can actually download the whole album at I-Tunes I would really beg you not to bother wasting your money. Instead you can find lots of stuff about it on the net, go to You Tube to see the full drama unfold, complete with accompanying video http://www.youtube.com/ type in Trapped in the Closet and work your way through the different tracks (I strongly recommend part 9, absolutely priceless.)

It really is one of the funniest things you’ll see and hear for a long long time.

Who knows if he was serious when he penned this? If he was then he might not be guilty in his current court case but he should probably be locked up anyway just so he can’t release a follow up!
