LUXURIOUS EVENT FACILITY RESIDENCE 305 OPENS AT HYATT

The Residence was already a pretty swanky events facility. I mean, I've been to weddings at The Oriental and it is scary. They still have the chair with the bent piece of iron going round the high back--great when you want to pile them up--and white slip-on cloth to make them look purrrdy. Oh and the flower arrangements. Your grandma would approve. In fact event facilities are almost always the most hideous part of any hotel: no windows, shitty lighting, bad furniture, and a space that consists in one big high-ceiling box.

At Hyatt, they've figured out that when over 30 people get together, it doesn't mean they're OK with being surrounded by "I want to poke my eyes out" fixtures. With the new Residence 305 you're getting an even smaller, cuter and more luxurious 250m2 event facility within the 950m2 Residence and it pushes the envelope even further. The place is at the corner of the building, with a fantastic view of the Erawan intersection. There's a lot of glass so you don't miss out on the action below. Inside, the design is signed Tony Chi, who also did a fantastic job with the I.Sawan spa cottages. I was a huge fan of those and I'm just as enthralled by residence 305. It's big but it feels like some kind of ultimate bachelor's pad, minus the tackiness. You feel like you're in someone's home, not in hotel. Now for an event facility, that's really unusual.

50 people can eat there and it can host up to 150 people for a cocktail. The best part is that it's an open Bulthaup kitchen right there in the living room. I know where I'm getting married.
